Pair-A-Dice
is a quaint cottage in Grand Haven, Michigan. Built in 1906, it is located
in historic Highland Park.
We are located just south of the Bil-Mar restaurant, but before the
sharp curve that turns into Grand Avenue. As
you drive along Harbor
Drive, you pass the state park, then the
Bil-Mar and if you look up to the East, you’ll see cottages on
a bluff. To get to the beach, you walk down the stairs and cross Harbor Drive. From Pair-a-Dice’s
deck, all you see is water and beach, we overlook Lake
Michigan, and the back view is a beautiful wooded ravine. There
are 4 bedrooms, one full
bath, and one area upstairs w/ sink and privacy door. (This helps
shuffle people through the shower to upstairs for final dressing and
grooming.) A screened in porch w/ attached deck is ideal for
reading, sunset watching, sleeping on the daybed/trundle and watching
storms come in over Lake Michigan. (As
you would expect, there is a gas Weber Grill on the front deck.) The
back porch is good for storing beach paraphernalia, (we have beach
chairs, boogie boards, 2 children’s life vests, and sand toys). Our
fully equipped kitchen has a coffee grinder, blender, and coffee maker,
everything you have at home except no dishwasher. We have cable,
a DVD player and many puzzles, games, cards and poker chips too. The
sun porch is an ideal place to build a jigsaw puzzle and keep it during
your entire stay. Pair-a-Dice sleeps 8 in the four bedrooms,
10, if you put two on the porch trundle bed. We prefer eight,
but will consider 10. Three bedrooms have full beds and one bedroom
has a set of twin beds. Two bedrooms have incredible lake views. In
fall we provide electric blankets and there is a wall heater that keeps
the downstairs cozy. The bathroom in the Spring & Fall can be chilly
depending on the weather. We provide a little heater to
take the chill off. Pair-a-Dice still retains much of its original
charm. This is not a home but a cottage that gets shuttered up for
the winter at the end of Oct. If you are a condo/hotel person,
please re-consider this traditional cottage experience. No pets. No
smoking. If you would like to see more photographs, please click on
