CHAMBER FOUNDATION


The Northwest Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Foundation was founded in 1994 as the Northwest Ottawa County Economic Development Corporation and received 501 (c) 3 status from the Internal Revenue Service, allowing for charitable contributions for economic and industrial development of the Northwest Ottawa County area. 

In 2001, the NOCEDC changed its name to the Northwest Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Foundation to encompass additional community development activities which maybe undertaken by the Chamber of Commerce  Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg.  NOCCF’s defined service area is the City of Grand Haven, Grand Haven Township, Spring Lake Township, the Village of Spring Lake and the City of Ferrysburg.

Purpose of the Foundation

  1. Promoting a greater understanding of economics and the free enterprise system.

  2. Providing programs to inform the business community and general public about the most current and innovative business practices and technology.

  3. Providing a means to promote economic growth through the acquisition of buildings and/or land for the public good and retention of hte community's economic base.

  4. Providing training programs, needs assessments and program development to improve the skills level of the Northwest Ottawa Workforce.

  5. Facilitating information exchange within a variety of business groups including but not limited to retail, manufacturing, tourism and service.

  6. Facilitating information exchange within a variety of professions including but not limited to safety personnel, health care professionals and human resource managers.

  7. Supporting and encouraging wellness programs throughout the employment base of the community.

  8. Supporting and encouraging crime prevention programs throughout the Northwest Ottawa County area.

  9. Studying, researching and publishing information to improve the business climate and employment growth in the community.

  10. Offering educational programs on the latest environmental and safety regulations and issues.

  11. Encouraging interaction and understanding between the educational community and the business community.

  12. Supporting and facilitating leadership development programs to assure an effective well prepared base of volunteer leadership.

  13. Promoting formal discussion and training that facilitates understanding between diverse economic, ethnic and governmental entities and groups.

  14. Doing all things incidental to and in furtherance of the above stated purposes and objectives.
